Tools Needed

Remove Rear Seat

Press the button on the top of the side of the rear seat and lift up until it stops. Now press in the button on both retainer rings to release the headrest. Repeat on the other 2 headrests.

Remove the child seat tie down covers. Slide your fingers into the opening and pull toward the front of the car.

For the lower part, press the front edge down until it clicks, then pull forward and up.

Now we will remove the lower bench. On the underside of each end there is a metal rod that points down into the seat support. Grab along the front edge and lift up to release it. Repeat on the other end

The back edge has two clips, so you will need to push the seat down, and towards the back of the car to release, then lift up. You should now be able to remove the bottom of the seat.

Use a deep 17mm socket and ratchet to remove the nut for the center seatbelt.

Once you remove it, thread the nut back on the stud so we don't lose it. This can remain in the car. Just make it snug to the floor so it doesn't back off while driving.

Go to the hatch, remove the cargo tray. Lift up on the handle and pull towards you.

Remove this trim piece around the lower seat bracket. Grab each edge and pull outwards to release the tabs, then slide the bracket toward the back of the car to remove it.

Under the trim we just removed, use a T30 torx to remove the bolt (shown without seat back in place).

Side view shown with the seat removed - The red line shows the tab that holds the front of the bracket in place.

Remove the black bracket on the top of the rear seat support. The back edge of the bracket needs to be lifted up, pushed forward slightly to unhook the front edge, then it can be lifted up then towards you.

Fold the seat back down on both sides by pulling the latch on the top of the seat.

The center of the seat back can now be lifted up out of the bracket. Then slide the seat back inward to get it off the stud near the door.

Reinstall the lower seat bracket and torx screw. This can remain in place so it is not lost. It will not interfere with the seat delete kit.

Reinstall the rear cargo tray. Now it's time to install the seat delete.

Vacuum all the junk that was under your seats.

Assemble the CJM delete

Find a clean space and unbox your seat delete. The outer fins are not attached. This is to reduce the overall size for shipping.

For the slanted seat delete - Attach the two side fins with the included Torx drive (T20) wood screws. four on both outside edges. Use a screw driver, or drill on a non impact setting. Overtightening will strip out the plywood, they just need to be firmly against the plywood once installed.

For the flat seat delete - Using a screw driver, or drill on a non impact setting, attach the two side fins with the 12 included torx drive (T20) wood screws (four short, eight long). Start with two long screws from the rib into the front bracket (circled in white). Hold the bracket tight to the rib while installing. Then two more long screws into the front leg (red). The holes are pre drilled. Do not over tighten them, they will strip out the plastic and plywood holes. They just need to be against the plywood once installed.

For the flat seat delete - Now install the rear bracket, holding the fin up so the bracket is tight to the plywood edge, and install two of the short screws

Repeat for the other side.

Using four long screws on the front bracket, and two short screws on the back bracket.

For both kits - Remove the M6 bolt in the rear bracket with a 5mm Allen key. Remove the black insert retainer, make sure not to lose it. Set the bolt and retainer part aside.

With both rear doors open, lift the delete kit into the car. The two brackets will drop onto the outer seat pegs.

Lift up the front edge of the seat delete about four inches and place something under the front edge (2x4 cut-off works).

Slide the retainer part into place (curved edge up), then insert the M6 bolt. Once it is finger tight, use the allen key to snug it up. This bolt does not need to be torqued. Tighten it until the resistance gets slightly harder, overtightening will just spin the embedded brass threads.

Your car will have a “woody” smell for about a week, but it will dissipate.

This kit is rated for 200lbs evenly spread across it. The center flat portion of the delete kit is structural and can be used to haul tires, cargo, dogs etc, but the outer fins are aluminum to lower the weight. They can be bent and dented and therefore should not be loaded up with cargo.

Warranty does not cover misuse and overloading of this seat delete kit.
