Tools Needed

Remove the interior trim

Open the hatch, remove the four screws on the bottom panel. Then use a trim tool to remove the panel clips around the perimeter.

Remove the top panel.

Remove the mid panel on each side of the rear window

Remove the spoiler cap

Remove the 3 nuts that retain the spoiler cap. Be careful as you remove them as to not drop them in the hatch cavity.

Use a knife, or heat gun and trim tool to separate the diffusers on either side of the spoiler cap.

Start at one end and pop out the clips along the spoiler cap with a trim tool. There are 4.

Unplug the washer nozzle by removing the black clip

Unplug the 3rd brake light. The clip to release faces up, use a pick tool to pop it.

Prep the hatch

Apply tape along the top of the hatch here.

Apply tape here where our lower mount will land.

Drill top mounting holes

Place the 3D printed jig into the top of the hatch.

Apply pressure on the outside edge to keep it tight to the hatch. Start each hole, then go back and drill through the hatch for both holes. Repeat on the other side of the car with the other drill guide.

Apply touch up paint on these holes. Spray some metal paint into the cap and apply with a brush. We suggest applying two layers with 10 mintues between layers.

This does dry quickly, it is worth the time to prevent rust streaks in the future.

Install the bottom brackets onto the wing upright. Note the angle of these brackets, they are bent past 90* to contour to the hatch. Driver side shown. Passenger side will lean towards the center of the car as well.

Install the bottom bolt finger tight on both uprights.

Slide the nut plate into the top cavity of the hatch. Orient the plate so the long tab is closest to the center of the car. The flange of the riv-nut should be against the sheet metal of the hatch (driver side shown).

Check the upper bracket, the are side specific. It should be leaning inward toward the center of the car (Driver side shown).

Install a washer, and bolt through:

the top bracket, the hatch hole you drilled, then into the nut plate. Install finger tight for now. Repeat for the other side of the car.

Hold an upright in place between the two upper brackets. Install a washer on a bolt, and slide it into the outside top bracket, through the upright, and into the inner top bracket. Add another washer and nut finger tight. Repeat for the other side.

After both bolts are installed, tighten the bolts that hold the upright onto the brackets first!. Then tighten the bolt through the hatch.

Check the upright bolts again. Repeat on the other side.

Mark and drill bottom holes

Use a ruler to mark a line on the center of the hatch. The center of the emblem will be accurate enough for this measurement.

Measure out 270mm or 10 5/8" on each side and mark a vertical line parallel to our center line.

The brackets will not sit perfectly flat on the hatch at this step. Move the bottom inside bracket so the line is centered in the bolt hole. Then drill the hole.

Drop a bolt into the hole to keep it aligned, then drill the outside bolt hole. Repeat for the other side.

Apply touch up paint to the 4 holes on the hatch.

The lower nut plate can be difficult to reach. If you cannot fit your hand into the cavity, use a set of pliers to hold the riv-nut to start threading the first bolt in the next step.

Slide the nut plate into the hatch cavity inside the hatch. Orient the plate with the large tab towards the center, and riv-nut flanges towards the hatch skin of the car (image shows orientation).

Slide a washer onto a bolt, and install through the outer bracket, hatch and into the nut plate. Repeat for the other 3 bolts, finger tight

Finalize mounting

After all four bolts are installed, snug up the bolts that hold the bracket to the hatch. Then tighten the bolts that hold the brackets to the upright.

Check the hatch bolts again.

Repeat on the other side.

Check the top bracket bolts one more time for any settling.

Have a helper for this step.

Hold the foil up to the mounts.  Slide a washer onto an M6 bolt, through the AOA mount, a plastic shim washer, upright, then install another washer and nut. Repeat on the other side to hold the foil in place.

Use the center hole of the AOA mount, and center hole on the upright to set the wing at 0* AOA.

Tighten all 4 bolts. They are nylocks, so they just need to be tightened enough to pull the assembly tight together.

Install the wing foil endplates using four M8 bolts with washers. The taller side of the endplate should be on the front of the wing.

Trim spoiler cap

Cut out the template outter profile. Bend on the two called out lines.

Apply tape to the hatch spoiler cap.

Place the template on the spoiler cap. Use the point of the third brake light to set the position.

Tape the outside edge in place, using the edge of the cap to align the template on this end.

Use a knife to transfer the cut area onto the spoiler cap. You can now remove the paper template, and the cut out area of the tape.

Trim the spoiler cap using the transferred marks from the knife. An oscillating tool, panel saw, or hack saw all work well to do this.

Start on the inside of the cap to practice. This portion will not be visible once installed. Cut the gloss black area last.

Trim most of the material, then come back and sand or trim up to your scribed line to get the cleanest cut.

Also be sure to cut out the rib that will become visible after you remove the inside portion of the spoiler cap.

Reinstall the spoiler can. Plug in the washer line, brake light, then pop in the clips

Last, reinstall the 3 nuts to retain it.

Reinstall the interior trim. Check for any clips that came off the plastic when removing the trim and reinstall in the corresponding slot. These can be removed using a trim tool or needle nose pliers.

Finished!
