Defrost Pillar Vent Gauge Pod
IMPORTANT!
If you are installing this part when the outside temperature is below 55*F / 12*C - run your defrost on full heat for at least 15 minutes to warm up the dash. This will give the dash more flexibility to slide in the vent base. The vent is designed to be slightly larger than the OEM one to keep the pod from excessively vibrating. Failure to warm up the dash may cause the vent base to crack during install.
Remove the fuse panel cover in the driver side door jamb using a trim tool. It is held in with clips.
2. Remove the jamb trim panel to provide more working space. It is only retained by a few clips and tucked behind the weatherstripping (MK6 shown).
3. GENTLE! - pry the OEM vent cover out along the top edge to pry out the OEM vent. This will be brittle, so don't force it.
4. Attach the vent to the pod using the two included bolts.
5. Plan out your wiring routing.
6. We include adhesive tabs to stick on the leading edge inside of the pod. Most gauges will friction fit and not require removing the adhesive cover on the gauge side.
7. Put the lower edge of the CJM vent into the defrost opening. Then work up around the edges to seat each clip, pressing in the top last.
8. Check the vent from the side to check that is evenly seated along the whole vent.
9. Squeeze the pillar around the vent to make sure the vent is fully seated.
