10th Gen Honda Civic & Accord
Defrost Vent Gauge Pod
IMPORTANT!
If you are installing this part when the outside temperature is below 55*F / 12*C - run your defrost on full heat for at least 15 minutes to warm up the dash. This will give the dash more flexibility to slide in the vent base. The vent is designed to be slightly larger than the OEM one to keep the pod from excessively vibrating. Failure to warm up the dash may cause the vent base to crack during install.
Images in this install are from a Honda Civic, The Accord process will be the same, the vent base shape will be the only difference.
Remove the OEM vent cover with a bone tool or dull flat head screwdriver. Pry around the perimeter of the vent to slide it out.
2. Remove the side dash panel. It is retained with clips. This will give you more visiblity to run your wiring.
3. Depending on the size of your gauges wiring harness, you may be able to fish wiring straight down to the fuse panel or to a firewall grommet without any drilling. Test fit the wiring down this area between the duct and dash opening.
You can tap power off the fuse panel (located above where your left foot sits while driving)
If your gauge requires a boost or sender from the engine bay locate the closest grommet in the firewall and poke a hole.
4. Attach the pod to the base with the included screws.
5. Install the included adhesive pad along the edge of the pod. Most gauges will friction fit. If it doesn't:
The pad can be folded to make it thicker.
Wrap a layer or two of masking tape around the gauge.
Use a rubber band on the gauge.
6. Insert the left point of the vent base first.
Then press in the rear edge closest to the windshield. Last, press in the front edge of the VENT - don't press down on the pod!
7. Ensure the edges have all been seated down into the dash to prevent the pod from vibrating while driving.
