Rear Diffuser & Spats

Tools needed:

Diffuser Install

IMPORTANT

NEVER WORK UNDER A CAR THAT IS ONLY SUPPORTED BY A FLOOR JACK.

1.Put the car on flat ground, in park, or first gear with the ebrake engaged. Jack up the rear of the car with a floor jack or bottle jack using the rear jack points. Place jack stands or cribbing under the control arm. Use wheel chalks to prevent the front wheels from rolling forward.

2. Open the diffuser box, remove the packaging. Assemble the center section of the diffuser. With the machined pockets of the baseplate slots facing up, slide a fin on, with the hole on top.

Note the inner and outer fins have a different profile to match the shape of the valence.

3. Install a black M4 bolt into each fin using a Phillips head screwdriver, tightening until the fin is flush with the surface of the baseplate. They just need to be snug, do not over tighten. Fasteners this small can be easily stripped.

4. Locate the M6 bolts, and serrated nuts in the hardware bag. Grab your clamps, a 4mm Allen key, and a drill with the 6mm or ¼” drill bit.

5. Hold the baseplate up to the bottom of the OEM valance. Place a clamp on each edge to keep it in place.  Align the front of the fins with the back contour of the valance. The front edge of the baseplate should sit flush with the bottom edge of the OEM valance. Use the front corners of the baseplate to center the diffuser left to right.

6. Wear safety glasses and drill the five M6 holes with a 6mm or ¼” bit using the larger countersunk holes in the baseplate as a guide. Install five M6 bolts, and nylock nuts. Hold a wrench on top, and turn the bolt with the allen key.  .

7. Once the baseplate is secured to the valance with the five M6 bolts, you can remove the clamps. Remove the black M4 bolts and slide the inner fins off of the baseplate. This will expose the countersunk M5 holes. Using a 5mm or 3/16" drill bit drill out the 5mm holes under the CENTER FINS ONLY.

It is important that you DO NOT drill out the 5mm countersunk holes under the outer fins as these use a self tapping screw NOT a nut and bolt.

8. Install the two M5 bolts, and serrated flange nuts. Hold the nut with your finger and tighten the bolt with an allen key. The serrated nut is designed to grab the plastic valence on the back side so no wrench is required.

Now you can remove the outer fins.

9. U sing a philips head drill adapter, install the two self tapping screws in the remaining two  countersunk holes (these will be hidden by the outer fins.

Re-install the fins and four black M4 bolts to complete the center section of the diffuser. You can use thread-locker on these bolts, however it is not necessary.

Spat Install

1. The spats are left / right side specific. The countersunk holes will be on the bottom. The rounded edge of the spat should be sticking out slightly past the bumper.

2. Have a clamp ready, or second set of hands to help hold it in place. Hold the spat up to the edge of the valence/bumper. Line up the corner of the spat with the inside lip of the valence. The front of the spat should be flush with the wheel well edge of the bumper.

3. Once you are satisfied with the position of the spat, tighten the clamp and use a 5mm or 3/16" drill bit to drill out the three countersunk holes.

4.   Install the three M5 bolts and serrated flange nuts to secure the spat. Use an 8mm box wrench to hold the nut from spinning if necessary. Remove the clamp and repeat this process for the opposite side spat.
